Maintenance process
The diagram on the right shows an outline of the web site maintenance program.
The process begins with the client and/or website user assessing the current site and identifying desired changes. These changes may be changes in existing content or functionality, new content to be added, errors or typos in the existing pages, etc. Requested changes, whether made by phone, email or directly through our client web interface, are collated in our request database.
As requested changes are processed their progress may be tracked through the client web interface.
Over time, as the content of a site evolves, the structure tends to become degraded. To avoid this, restructuring is done regularly to prevent the need for major overhauls of site structure.
Regular reports are produced for client detailing the maintenance work that has been done over a particular period.
Although, for the purposes of describing it, the process shown here as a sequential, in reality the situation is likely to be more complex. Change requests arrive at irregular intervals and several requests may be at different points in their processing at any given time.
